Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS)
How does TMS work?
TMS is a novel neuropsychiatric treatment, which uses electromagnetic pulses to stimulate neuronal connections in the central nervous system.
What is TMS used to treat?
TMS is mainly used to treat Treatment Resistant Depression (TRD). TMS can also be used to treat conditions such as anxiety and OCD, as well as a variety of neurological conditions.
Do I qualify for TMS?
You may qualify for treatment with TMS if you have been tried on multiple medications for depression or anxiety, with minimal to no benefit and/or problematic side effects. Your doctor will evaluate you to determine if you are a candidate.
What will my treatments entail?
A course of TMS involves 36 treatment sessions. The length of your treatment session will be determined based on your customized protocol.
Does TMS cause any side effects?
TMS is a very safe and effective treatment. Since we are targeting specific areas of the brain with this treatment, you will not be met with the same side effect risks as medications.
How much does TMS cost?
TMS is covered by most health insurance plans. If you qualify, we will submit an authorization request to your insurance company. Payment plans are available for any out-of-pocket expectation you may incur. If you are without health insurance, or you are otherwise interested in paying out of pocket for TMS, please contact our office to discuss costs, as well as payment options.
